IDF Dismantles Large-Scale Hezbollah Underground Complex in Southern Lebanon

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – In a significant operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they have dismantled a large-scale Hezbollah underground complex located in the area of Majdal Zoun in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, the complex was constructed using technology and expertise provided by Iran, underscoring the complex web of alliances and rivalries in the region.

The underground complex, which stretches over 200 meters in length and reaches depths of up to 25 meters, was found to contain hundreds of weapons, including unspecified types of munitions and explosives. Furthermore, the IDF discovered four launch shafts directed towards Israeli territory, suggesting that the complex was intended for use in future militant operations against Israel.

“This extensive underground network is a testament to the level of support and resources that Hezbollah receives from its Iranian benefactor,” said an IDF spokesperson, emphasizing the significance of the discovery. “The dismantling of this complex is a major success for our forces, and a clear demonstration of our determination to prevent the proliferation of militant infrastructure in the region.”

The discovery of the complex adds to ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, which have been escalating in recent months. Tensions flared in May following a major exchange of fire between the two sides, leaving multiple fatalities on both sides. Experts say that the complex could have been used for covert operations, including the launch of rockets or other projectiles into Israeli territory.

In a separate statement, the IDF highlighted the advanced engineering and technical capabilities involved in the construction of the complex, citing the use of sophisticated tunnel-boring technology and advanced materials. This expertise, the IDF believes, was provided by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is notorious for its involvement in the development of covert military infrastructure and operations in the Middle East.

As the situation in Lebanon continues to evolve, the discovery of the underground complex serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing risks and challenges facing Israel in the region.
