AiBotTel Aviv, Israel – In a significant security operation, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday foiled a Gaza-based terror plot, arresting 11 suspects allegedly linked to the militant Hamas organization.
According to a joint statement issued by the IDF and Israeli security agencies, the arrest operation took place in the early hours of Tuesday, with military units and police officers conducting simultaneous raids on suspected militant hideouts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The operation, code-named ‘Nightshade,’ aimed to disrupt Hamas’s plans to launch rocket attacks into Israeli territory, as well as to dismantle the organization’s network of operatives involved in planning and executing militant activities.
“Last night, the Israel Defense Forces, in close collaboration with Israeli security agencies, successfully foiled a Gaza-based terror plot and arrested 11 suspects, all linked to Hamas,” said a senior IDF spokesperson. “This operation highlights the IDF’s unwavering commitment to maintaining Israel’s national security and protecting its citizens from the ever-present threat of terrorism.”
The arrested suspects, all identified as Gaza residents, were taken into custody during a series of coordinated raids in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The operation involved elite military units, with soldiers conducting searches of homes, mosques, and other suspected militant hideouts.
During the raids, the IDF claimed to have seized a range of materials, including rocket launchers, detonators, and communication equipment, which are believed to have been used in Hamas’s preparations for future attacks.
“We have made a significant dent in Hamas’s ability to plan and execute terrorist activities,” said an IDF official, speaking on condition of anonymity. “This operation demonstrates the IDF’s capabilities in identifying and apprehending militants, as well as its commitment to thwarting Hamas’s efforts to destabilize the region.”
The development comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, following a recent escalation of violence between Israel and Hamas. Last week, Israeli forces launched a series of airstrikes on targets in the Gaza Strip, in response to reports of militant rocket fire into Israeli territory.
In a statement, the Israeli government welcomed the successful operation, hailing the IDF’s courage and professionalism in maintaining regional stability.
