The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has issued an urgent warning to the residents of six towns in southern Lebanon, alerting them to an impending military operation in the area. According to reliable sources, the towns of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Mifdoun, Qlaouiyeh, Borj Qlaouiyeh, al-Majadel, and Srifa have been put on high alert, with residents advised to evacuate the area immediately.
The warning, issued via social media platforms, comes amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon over a series of reported security breaches along the Lebanese-Israeli border. The IDF has accused Hezbollah, a Shia militant group based in Lebanon, of stockpiling arms and personnel along the border, sparking fears of an all-out conflict.
In a statement, an IDF spokesperson said: “We urge all residents in the affected areas to leave their homes and seek shelter in safer locations. The safety of the civilian population is of utmost importance to us, and we will take all necessary measures to minimize harm.”
The warning has left residents in the affected towns living in uncertainty, with many scrambling to pack their belongings and leave the area. “We were awoken in the dead of night by the sound of helicopters and artillery fire,” said one resident of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, who wished to remain anonymous. “We quickly packed our essentials and left the area, unsure of what to expect next.”
Humanitarian organizations have begun offering assistance to residents displaced by the warning, providing food, shelter, and medical care. “We’re deeply concerned about the humanitarian implications of this crisis,” said a spokesperson for a local non-governmental organization. “We’re urging all parties involved to exercise restraint and prioritize the safety of civilians.”
The Israeli government has thus far refrained from confirming the details of its military operation, citing operational security concerns. However, analysts warn that an escalation of tensions between Israel and Lebanon could have far-reaching consequences for the region, including the potential for a wider conflict.
As the situation develops, the international community is closely watching the developments, with diplomats and mediators working to de-escalate tensions and broker a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
