Iran Accuses UAE of Hostile Stance, Threatens Retaliation

A severe escalation in the fragile relationship between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has unfolded, following a scathing warning from a prominent Iranian lawmaker. Ali Khezrian, a member of Iran’s parliamentary National Security Committee, has declared that Tehran now views the UAE as a “hostile base” for its enemies, sparking significant concerns for the Emirati nation.

According to sources close to the matter, Khezrian directly accused the UAE of taking military action against Iran during previous conflicts. Most notably, the lawmaker referenced instances in which UAE fighter jets engaged in combat, their national flags deliberately removed from the aircraft.

With a clear warning signifying a major shift in Iran’s stance, the Emirati nation has officially been marked as a hostile entity by Khezrian. This drastic change in perception marks the UAE as one of the country’s major security concerns in addition to the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. By including the UAE in this classification, Khezrian has unmistakably communicated that Iranian forces are prepared to pursue military action targeting any perceived enemies residing within the UAE.

Furthermore, the senior Iranian official has severed historical alliances between the two nations by stating that Tehran no longer considers the UAE a neighbouring country. He reinforced his assertion by labelling the UAE with the label of ‘hostile base’. Given this significant shift, Iranian armed forces will allegedly no longer differentiate between the UAE and the disputed region of Erbil, in Iraq.

While no explicit confirmation has been made by UAE authorities, tensions between the two nations remain extremely high since Khezrian’s declarations. The United Arab Emirates and Iran have an extremely complex history, and relations have been strained for several years, primarily due to ongoing disagreements over sensitive issues, including territorial disputes and regional influence.

Given the volatile nature of the situation, international authorities remain highly attentive to developments in the region. Diplomats, as well as officials in both nations, will be observing Khezrian’s statements in the coming days to determine whether the Iranian lawmaker’s warnings are an isolated incident or a harbinger of an imminent, full-scale escalation.
