The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released footage purportedly showcasing the third phase of Operation Nasr 2, reportedly targeting US military positions in Kuwait and Bahrain.
According to reports, the operation, which commenced on June 28, involves a multi-pronged strike campaign consisting of ballistic and cruise missile attacks, designed to disrupt and degrade the operational capabilities of US forces in the region.
The released footage appears to highlight the purported deployment of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting US military bases, allegedly in Kuwait and Bahrain. The visuals depict the launching of missiles from an alleged IRGC facility within Iran, prior to striking US positions.
IRGC’s actions come amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, with the latter continuing to express its opposition to the presence of US forces in the region. This move is seen as part of a broader campaign aimed at increasing pressure on the US to withdraw its military forces from the region.
Operation Nasr 2 is a follow-up operation to the first Operation Nasr, also launched by the IRGC in 2022. That operation resulted in attacks on US and Israeli targets, resulting in reported casualties and property damage.
While the authenticity and details of the released footage have not been independently verified, experts state that the operation signifies a clear escalation in tensions between the two nations and highlights Iran’s military capabilities. The US has yet to publicly comment on the release or on the alleged strikes.
The release also follows an increase in diplomatic and military cooperation between Iran and its regional ally, Iraq, in recent times. Analysts believe that Tehran is leveraging its ties with Baghdad to exert further pressure on Western countries and their interests in the region.
Meanwhile, Bahrain and Kuwait have reaffirmed their commitment to their alliances with Western nations, including the United States, amid the ongoing tensions with Iran.
