TEHRAN, Iran – Mohsen Rezaei, a prominent Iranian politician and presidential candidate, has issued a stern warning against the United States and its alleged accomplices, promising that they will face severe punishment if their actions against Iran continue.
In a recent statement, Rezaei, who is the former commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, emphasized that Tehran would not shy away from taking strong measures to defend itself against external aggressions. His comments come at a time when tensions between Iran and the US have been escalating, particularly after the US assassination of top Iranian military commander Qasem Soleimani in 2020.
“We will not back down in the face of aggression and will defend our country at all costs,” Rezaei declared, adding that the US and its accomplices would “be severely punished” for their actions against Iran.
Rezaei’s hardline stance is echoed by many Iranians, who are deeply divided over their country’s relations with the US and the West. The Iranian government has long accused the US of seeking to undermine its authority and impose its own brand of democracy on the Islamic Republic.
Rezaei’s presidential campaign is based on a nationalist and anti-US agenda, and he has promised to take a tougher stance against Washington if elected. He has also vowed to enhance Iran’s military capabilities and increase its defense expenditure in order to counter the perceived threats from the US and its allies.
The US, on the other hand, has been increasingly critical of Iran’s human rights record and its support for Shia militia groups in the Middle East. Washington has also imposed a series of economic sanctions on Tehran, which have severely impacted Iran’s economy and caused widespread poverty and unemployment.
Despite Rezaei’s tough rhetoric, many analysts believe that Tehran is unlikely to engage in a direct military confrontation with the US, which could have catastrophic consequences for the entire region. However, some have warned that Rezaei’s rise to power could lead to a further deterioration in relations between Iran and the US, potentially triggering a fresh wave of conflict and instability in the Middle East.
Rezaei’s campaign has been gaining momentum in recent weeks, with many Iranian voters expressing support for his hardline stance against the US. Despite the risks, many believe that Rezaei’s tough rhetoric may resonate with Iranian voters who are fed up with the country’s economic struggles and the perceived lack of progress on its nuclear program.
The Iranian presidential election is scheduled to take place on June 18, and Rezaei is widely regarded as one of the frontrunners for the top office. His campaign promises to take a firmer stance against the US and its allies are likely to have far-reaching implications for regional security and global politics.
