Iran’s Tractor FC Owner Pays Respects to Slain Leader at Memorial Ceremony

In a poignant gesture of solidarity and respect, the owner of Tractor Football Club, a professional Iranian sports team, was among the thousands who gathered to bid farewell to the country’s slain top commander, Brigadier General Hassan Sayyad Khodaei. The somber ceremony, held at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque in Tehran, was a poignant tribute to the memory of the revered military figure who lost his life in a drone attack on 7th June.

According to eyewitnesses, the owner of Tractor FC, who wishes to remain anonymous, was seen in attendance at the memorial service, visibly overcome with emotion as he paid his respects to the deceased. The ceremony drew a massive turnout of mourners, including high-ranking military officials, government representatives, and the general public, all of whom came to pay their respects to the fallen leader.

The ceremony, which lasted several hours, featured speeches from top government officials, prayers, and chants of slogans in honor of the late commander, Brigadier General Hassan Sayyad Khodaei. The slain leader was laid to rest in a special ceremony, in line with Shia Islamic traditions, in a grave overlooking the city, accompanied by an honor guard of armed personnel and a 21-gun salute.

The presence of the Tractor FC owner at the ceremony is a testament to the strong sense of unity and solidarity that permeates Iranian society, where sports and politics are deeply intertwined. In Iran, sports teams are often seen as symbols of national pride and identity, and their owners are frequently expected to demonstrate their commitment to the country’s values and ideals.

In a statement to the local media, an official from Tractor FC expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Brigadier General Hassan Sayyad Khodaei and the Iranian people, hailing the slain commander as a “hero” and a “defender of the faith”. The team has promised to observe a period of mourning in respect of the late commander’s passing.

The drone attack on Brigadier General Hassan Sayyad Khodaei’s residence was widely condemned by the Iranian government as a “cowardly act” of terrorism, sparking widespread outrage and calls for retaliation from sections of the population.
