Iraq Denies any Drone Incursions towards Saudi Arabia, Confers with Regional Partners

Kuwait City, Kuwait – In a recent statement, Iraq’s Ministry of Defense revealed that no drone incursions directed towards Saudi Arabia have been detected by their air defense systems and radars. The disclosure comes at a time when regional tensions are escalating amidst rising concerns over aerial threats.

According to sources within the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, an extensive review and analysis of radar data and intelligence reports failed to confirm any drone incursions across the international border shared by Iraq and Saudi Arabia. This stance marks a significant departure from recent claims made by Saudi Arabia that a drone attack from Iraq threatened the kingdom’s sovereignty.

The Iraqi Ministry emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment in the region and reiterated its commitment to cooperating with neighboring nations to address common security concerns. “Iraq’s defense apparatus remains vigilant in safeguarding its airspace and territorial integrity. We have no information to suggest otherwise,” a senior official stated during a press conference.

When questioned about reports of alleged drone launches originating from Iraq, the spokesperson underscored that “no intelligence gathering or credible evidence” supports these claims. “Our commitment to regional cooperation transcends any unfounded allegations of wrongdoing,” they added.

In response to Saudi Arabia’s claims of the perceived threat, Iraq urged for calm and restraint in order to avoid an escalation of tensions in the region. An Iraqi delegate called upon regional partners to adopt a more rational and constructive approach to discussing shared security concerns.

A diplomatic effort has been initiated by Iraq to reassure its allies and counterparts that no action has been taken to compromise regional stability. Senior officials and military personnel have been engaged in talks with counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other regional countries to discuss aerial security protocol and to reaffirm Iraq’s stance on regional cooperation.

The international community is keeping a close eye on the ongoing developments in the region, amidst concerns over escalating tensions. While tensions remain high, it remains to be seen whether these diplomatic efforts can succeed in fostering increased cooperation and dialogue between nations.
