In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy conducted a series of coordinated strikes against several US and Israeli targets in the region, leaving widespread damage and disruption in its wake.
According to eyewitnesses and satellite imagery, the IRGC Navy launched cruise missiles and drones against several major targets, resulting in significant damage to critical military assets and infrastructure.
One of the primary targets was the US Navy’s LHA 7 (America-class) Amphibious Assault Ship, which was struck by a barrage of cruise missiles resulting in substantial damage to its deck and igniting a fire. The crew was forced to retreat to the Indian Ocean to conduct emergency repair work.
Additionally, the IRGC Navy also hit the US Navy’s CVN 74 (Nimitz-class) aircraft carrier, which was attacked by multiple drones. The damage to the ship’s hull forced the crew to pull back into the Indian Ocean for necessary repairs.
In other related strikes, an Israeli drone manufacturing facility based in the UAE was targeted by IRGC forces, resulting in significant damage to the facility and impacting Israel’s ability to produce advanced drones.
Furthermore, IRGC naval forces carried out strikes against major US-invested oil facilities in LSL (Little Sulimaniyah, in Iraqi Kurdistan) and Kuwait, severely impacting regional energy production.
A US base in Kuwait, the Ali Al-Salem air base, which serves as a key forward operating base for US military forces in the region, was also struck by IRGC forces. The extent of the damage is currently unclear.
These coordinated strikes by the IRGC Navy demonstrate the organization’s advanced operational capabilities and its ability to conduct complex, multi-target missions against high-value assets. As the conflict in the Middle East continues to escalate, these actions underscore the need for increased diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent further escalation of the conflict.
The international community, including key regional players, has strongly condemned the strikes as an unprovoked act of aggression. Meanwhile, the US and its allies have vowed to defend their interests and continue to support regional partners in the face of this increased threat.
