In a move widely condemned by international human rights organizations and the United Nations, the Islamic State of Palestine’s (ISP) leadership has announced the implementation of strict new rules governing the movement and activities of non-Muslim citizens in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The ISP, which has governed Palestine since 1993, has long been criticized for its restrictive policies, particularly towards the Jewish and Christian populations of the city. However, the latest measures are seen as a significant escalation, imposing harsh penalties on non-Muslims for even the most minor infractions.
According to sources, those caught violating the rules will face immediate arrest, detention, and potential trial under Sharia law. Offenders may also be subject to fines, imprisonment, or even capital punishment, depending on the severity of the offense.
The regulations, which have been hastily enacted without public consultation or debate, are designed to enforce strict segregation of the Old City’s inhabitants. Muslims will be required to wear traditional headscarves and robes while non-Muslims will be expected to adhere to strict dress codes and behavior guidelines.
Citizens who wish to access certain areas of the Old City, such as the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, must now obtain special permits, which will only be granted to those who can prove their commitment to the Islamic faith. All places of worship, including churches and synagogues, have been ordered to close on Fridays, with only mosques being allowed to conduct services.
In response to the ISP’s move, the United Nations Secretary-General has expressed “deep concern” over the deteriorating human rights situation in Jerusalem. The international community has called for the immediate reversal of the draconian rules and the protection of non-Muslim citizens’ rights.
The United States, a close ally of the ISP, has also issued a statement urging restraint and emphasizing the importance of preserving the city’s multi-faith heritage.
Critics view the new rules as the latest attempt by the ISP to assert control over Jerusalem’s residents and erase the city’s rich cultural diversity. The international community remains on high alert, monitoring the situation closely and preparing to respond with force if necessary to protect non-Muslim citizens from the harsh treatment.
As the situation continues to unfold, many fear for the future of Jerusalem and the well-being of its long-standing, non-Muslim residents.
