BEIRUT, LEBANON – In a series of coordinated airstrikes and drone strikes, Israeli forces launched a wave of attacks against multiple locations in southern Lebanon late last night and early this morning. According to eyewitness accounts and reports from the ground, the strikes were centered in the region south of the Litani River, which has been the focus of renewed tensions in recent weeks.
Airstrikes were confirmed to have targeted several villages and towns, including Dibbine, where witnesses described explosions and fireball sightings in the early morning hours. In Qatrani, at least two separate strikes were reported, resulting in significant damage to buildings and property. Similar attacks were also reported in Bourj Qalaouiyeh, Touline, Between Khirbet Selm and Qalaouiyeh, Rayhan, Kfartebnit (twice), and Sajd.
In addition to the airstrikes, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as drones, were deployed to strike targeted locations in Nabatieh, Srifa, and Haboush. These strikes have yet to be officially confirmed by Lebanese authorities, but photographic and video evidence has surfaced on social media, corroborating reports of the attacks.
Furthermore, artillery bombardments were reported in a number of areas, including Qulayla, Bourj Qalaouiyeh, Deir Kifa, Majdal Selm, Touline, Blat, Jebchit, Harouf, Between Arabsalim and Houmine, Qatrani, and Kfar Roummane (twice), as well as Srifa, where drone strikes and artillery bombardments were also reported.
Lebanese officials and residents have condemned the attacks as a flagrant breach of the country’s sovereignty and an escalation of the ongoing tensions between Israel and Lebanon. Diplomats from the United Nations and international observers have urged restraint, emphasizing the need for both parties to de-escalate and engage in dialogue.
The recent surge in hostilities has raised concerns about potential destabilization in the region and implications for the stability of Lebanon. The ongoing situation is being closely monitored by global powers, with many calling for a return to diplomatic negotiations to resolve longstanding disputes and avoid future escalation.
In the wake of these developments, authorities in Lebanon are scrambling to assess the situation and determine the extent of damage, as efforts continue to respond to emergency needs and restore order in affected areas. As tensions persist, a delicate balance must be maintained between maintaining regional stability and upholding national sovereignty in the face of repeated provocations.
