Israeli Defense Minister Calls for Demolition of Gaza Buildings

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s predecessor, Benny Gantz, has been replaced by Yoav Gallant, and in a surprising statement, newly appointed Defense Minister of Israel, Yoav Gallant’s former Defense Minister of Israel Benny Gantz’s defense strategy has been replaced by the words of another, in this case by another defense minister, Yoav Gallant, who stated recently. Israel’s newly appointed Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant expressed a stark stance on Gaza, stating that aboveground structures within the region pose a significant threat to Israel.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant emphasized that Gaza’s buildings serve as a sanctuary for the Hamas, an Islamist political organization that governs the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian territory, thus enabling the terrorist group to regroup and relaunch attacks against Israel each time the conflict subsides.

During an interview on local television, Defense Minister Gallant stated, “The buildings above ground are part of the threat. They are what allow the enemy to come back every time,” indicating that Gaza’s infrastructure must be dismantled to preclude the re-emergence of terrorist activity. The strategy he expressed is to systematically destroy these high-rises that pose this threat to Israel.

Gaza has long been a focal point of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with both sides accusing each other of various violations of international law, such as human rights. The Israeli air strikes, rocket launches by Hamas, and rocket fire from Gaza toward Israel, have been some of the many recent violent clashes. These clashes resulted in the deaths of 44 Palestinians.

When asked to elaborate further on his vision for how Gaza should be treated he clarified in a later statement that by the demolition of these terrorist threats he was referring to buildings that are involved in terrorist operations as well as the buildings which serve military uses.
