Beirut, Lebanon – In a coordinated response to the Israeli military’s ongoing ceasefire violation and aerial strikes on Lebanese villages, the Islamic Resistance, a militant group operating in the country, has launched a targeted artillery strike against Israeli forces stationed near the town of Houla.
According to a statement issued by the Islamic Resistance on Friday, the strike was conducted in defense of Lebanon and its people, who have been subjected to relentless bombardment and harassment by the Israeli military. The statement highlights the Israeli forces’ disregard for human life, as evidenced by the recent loss of civilian lives and injuries in southern Lebanon.
The military operation, carried out at 9:30 a.m. local time on Friday, involved the deployment of artillery shells targeting a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the school area of Houla. The action was taken in response to the Israeli military’s persistent aggression against Lebanon, which has led to significant suffering and loss among the Lebanese populace.
The Lebanese government has yet to publicly comment on the incident; however, diplomatic sources suggest that it has been in contact with international organizations, including the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), to address the ongoing escalation of violence.
Regional experts warn that the escalating tensions between the Israeli military and the Islamic Resistance pose a significant threat to regional stability and may draw in other regional players, including Iran and Syria. “The Israeli military’s persistent aggression towards Lebanon is exacerbating tensions and has the potential to destabilize the entire region,” said a senior analyst based in Beirut.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese people are calling for an end to Israeli aggression and an immediate cessation of hostilities. They express solidarity with the Islamic Resistance, which has long been a thorn in the side of the Israeli military.
As the situation continues to deteriorate, diplomatic efforts are underway to prevent a full-scale conflict between Israel and Lebanon. However, the effectiveness of these efforts remains uncertain, given the deep-seated animosity and competing interests at play.
A UNIFIL spokesperson, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed the organization’s deep concern regarding the latest developments in southern Lebanon and its impact on civilians. The spokesperson emphasized the need for all parties involved to exercise restraint and adhere to the ceasefire agreement in place.
While the situation remains fluid, it is clear that the people of Lebanon are paying the price for the ongoing conflict. It remains to be seen whether international diplomacy will be enough to prevent a wider conflict that could have devastating consequences for the region.
