KIRYAT SHMONA, ISRAEL – A series of powerful explosions rocked the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona at approximately 10:00 PM local time on Thursday, with authorities confirming multiple incidents of damage to residences, commercial establishments, and infrastructure.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with multiple fire trucks and emergency services rushing to the area to respond to the situation. According to eyewitness accounts, at least five large explosions were heard in rapid succession, with debris and shattered glass being observed on the streets.
“It was like the apocalypse,” said one local resident, speaking anonymously to our publication. “I was at home when the first explosion occurred. I was shaken terribly, and the subsequent explosions sent me scurrying for cover. I saw people running for their lives, screaming and crying.”
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Lieut. Col. Ariel Oirzon confirmed that security services were investigating the incidents, stating that it was “too early to speculate about the cause of the explosions, but authorities were working tirelessly to identify the perpetrators.”
Kiryat Shmona Mayor, Nisim Malka, told our publication that at least a dozen buildings had sustained significant damage, with several residents being treated for injuries at local medical facilities.
“We are cooperating with law enforcement agencies and the IDF to ensure the safety and security of our citizens,” stated Mayor Malka. “These incidents have caused widespread devastation, and we are taking all necessary measures to provide support to those affected.”
