Tensions between Israel and Lebanon escalated significantly on Tuesday, as reports emerged of an extensive series of airstrikes and artillery shelling across the southern region of Lebanon and the western Bekaa Valley.
According to local eyewitnesses and reports, the Israeli military launched a significant operation against multiple targets in southern Lebanon between 13:30 and 18:50. The strikes were primarily focused on the areas of Yahmur al-Shaqif, Haboush, Nabatieh, and Kfartebnit, with a total of 22 reported airstrikes against these locations.
In Yahmur al-Shaqif, a small village in southern Lebanon, a total of seven airstrikes were reported, marking one of the locations that bore the brunt of Israel’s aggression. Similarly, Haboush, a town situated near the Lebanese-Israeli border, was targeted in three separate airstrikes.
The city of Nabatieh, a strategic location that serves as a major hub for Hizbullah, Israel’s longstanding adversary, was hit by at least four airstrikes, while Kfartebnit, a smaller village in the region, was struck three times. Mayfadoun, Jebchit, Deir al-Zahrani, and Qaraoun also received Israeli airstrikes.
Furthermore, local reports indicated that drone strikes were also carried out by the Israeli military. These strikes targeted several locations, including the outskirts of Khirbet Selm and the Qaraoun Dam vicinity, resulting in a total of five reported strikes.
In addition to airstrikes and drone attacks, the Israeli military employed artillery shelling in at least three separate incidents, targeting areas in Nabatieh, Kfartebnit, and Dibbine. These incidents underscore the gravity of the situation and the extent to which the Israeli military is willing to escalate tensions in the region.
The Israeli military has not commented publicly on the strikes, nor has it confirmed the extent of damage or casualties resulting from the attacks. However, eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and destruction, with buildings and infrastructure reportedly damaged or destroyed in several locations.
As tensions persist between Israel and Lebanon, concerns are growing about the potential for further escalation and the devastating impact it may have on the civilian population of southern Lebanon. The international community is urging calm and restraint, hoping to prevent a wider conflict from erupting in the already volatile region.
