NAF Conducts Aerial Strikes on Militant Hideouts in Borno State

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that it has carried out airstrikes on suspected militant hideouts and logistics sites in the Biramiri area of Borno State on May 26, as part of Operation HADIN KAI. This operation is aimed at eliminating the remnants of Boko Haram and other terrorist groups operating in the country.

According to a statement issued by the NAF, the airstrikes were conducted using fighter jets in the Sambisa Forest axis, where several fighters were killed and multiple facilities were destroyed. The statement further stated that the air operation was successful, with significant damage inflicted on the terrorists.

Operation HADIN KAI, which translates to “Operation Show Kindness,” is a multi-pronged military operation launched in 2021 by the Nigerian military in collaboration with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to flush out terrorist elements operating in the North-East region of the country. The NAF has been carrying out several air strikes and missions under this operation to support ground troops and disrupt terrorist supply chains.

The NAF statement highlighted the importance of air power in support of ground operations, stating that “the successful conduct of air operations is critical in degrading the terrorists’ capacity to carry out attacks and also in reducing their morale.”

In recent years, Nigeria has been grappling with the threat of Boko Haram, a militant group that has been carrying out attacks and kidnappings in the North-East region. The group has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, and its activities have led to significant human suffering and displacement of people.

The aerial strikes on the Biramiri area are seen as a significant development in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria. The success of the air operation has been commended by military officials and analysts, who see it as a significant boost to the country’s efforts to combat terrorism.

While the exact number of terrorists killed in the airstrikes has not been released, military sources have confirmed that several fighters were neutralized, and multiple facilities were destroyed. The NAF has assured that it will continue to conduct air operations in support of ground troops to ensure that the remnants of the terrorist groups are eliminated.

The Nigerian government has expressed commitment to defeating terrorism and ensuring national security. The military’s efforts in the North-East region are seen as a key aspect of this endeavor.
