The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported an intensified surge in air operations in the country’s north-east region, where the military is engaged in an ongoing campaign against Boko Haram militants. According to a statement from the NAF, aircraft carried out a series of strikes against militant positions in the Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns under the auspices of Operation HADIN KAI.
On 30 April, NAF aircraft targeted locations at Alafa in the Sambisa axis, successfully destroying what the military described as terrorist infrastructure and supply nodes. In another round of air strikes conducted the following day, 1 May, positions at Metele in the Tumbuns were targeted and neutralized.
According to the NAF, multiple militants were killed in the operations, which are aimed at preventing the regrouping of the militant group and degrading their capabilities. A key objective of Operation HADIN KAI is to dismantle the group’s ability to plan and execute attacks on civilians and military forces.
The ongoing air operations demonstrate the Nigerian military’s commitment to restoring stability and security to the north-east region, which has been ravaged by insurgency and militant activity for over a decade. The military’s efforts are focused on creating a conducive environment for economic development, social stability, and the safe return of internally displaced persons to their communities.
Operation HADIN KAI is a multi-service operation involving ground troops, air assets, and special operatives who are working in tandem to degrade Boko Haram’s capabilities. The military has been praised for its progress in the north-east, with reports indicating a significant improvement in the security situation in recent months.
The NAF’s intensified air operations are a testament to the military’s unwavering resolve to defeat Boko Haram and restore peace to the region. As the campaign continues, the international community is closely monitoring the situation, providing necessary support and assistance to the Nigerian government in its efforts to address the roots of the insurgency and promote lasting stability in the region.
The military’s commitment to protecting civilians and minimizing collateral damage is a key aspect of the ongoing operations, with the NAF reporting that utmost care is taken to avoid harm to non-combatants. With the security situation in the north-east gradually improving, hopes are high that the military’s efforts will yield positive results and pave the way for a more secure and prosperous future for the people of Nigeria.
