Qatari Outlet Releases Iranian Proposal for Ceasefire and Nuclear Deal with US

A Qatari media outlet has made public Iranian proposals submitted to the United States, detailing a potential framework for a ceasefire and nuclear agreement between the two countries. The proposals, which have been obtained by the outlet, outline a two-phase framework aimed at bringing an immediate end to the current war and achieving a comprehensive nuclear agreement.

The first phase of the proposal, outlined in the Iranian proposals, seeks to establish a ceasefire within a 30-day period. Key components of this phase include the gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran assuming responsibility for mine management, and the consent of the United States in providing support. Additionally, the reopening of Iranian ports would be carried out in line with the easing of tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. Furthermore, the phase emphasizes the need for the United States to withdraw its forces from Iran’s maritime zone and terminate its military alert status.

The second phase of the proposal addresses potential concessions on Iran’s nuclear program. The plan would involve a complete freeze on uranium enrichment operations, which would last for up to 15 years. During this period, Iran would be permitted to resume its enrichment activities at an extremely low rate of 3.6% under the principle of “zero stockpiling.” This phase also rejects any proposal for dismantling nuclear infrastructure or destroying facilities.

Moreover, the proposal discusses the fate of highly enriched uranium stockpiles, with the option to either transfer them abroad or decrease their enrichment level. A crucial aspect of the proposal is the introduction of a clear mechanism for lifting sanctions, in direct exchange for Iran’s nuclear concessions. Sanctions relief would involve the gradual release of frozen funds according to a defined timetable.

According to sources, these proposals, which are part of ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, aim to establish a comprehensive framework for cooperation. These developments come at a time when tensions have been escalating in the region, with the United States enforcing stringent sanctions on Iran in response to the country’s alleged breaches of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

The Qatari media outlet’s release of these Iranian proposals adds further insight into the complex negotiations taking place between the rival nations. Whether these proposals will lead to the realization of a lasting ceasefire and nuclear agreement remains to be seen.
