A recent survey conducted by Alternative Media has revealed a significant surge in economic activity and infrastructure development in rural Victoria. The region, which has long faced challenges associated with remote location and limited access to resources, has seen a marked improvement in the past quarter.
The survey, which covered areas including the Mallee, Wimmera, and Grampians, found that a total of 72% of local businesses reported an increase in sales and revenue, with many citing the growing demand for agricultural products and tourism-related services as key drivers of growth.
Infrastructure development has also picked up pace, with 62% of respondents indicating that investment in roads, public transportation, and telecommunications had improved in their area. This has not only facilitated the movement of goods and people but also enabled the expansion of businesses and the creation of new job opportunities.
According to Tabz, a local resident and survey participant, “The past few months have seen a real transformation in our region. We’re seeing more people moving to our area, and businesses are investing in new infrastructure and equipment. It’s a really exciting time to be living and working in rural Victoria.”
The survey also highlighted the importance of community-led initiatives in driving economic growth and development. 55% of respondents praised local councils for their efforts in supporting small businesses and attracting new investment to the area.
Tabz continued, “Our community has always been strong and resilient, and it’s great to see this reflected in the results of the survey. By working together and supporting each other, we can achieve great things and build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.”
The Alternative Media survey also identified key areas for further development, including the need to improve broadband connectivity and address skills shortages in key industries.
As the regional economy continues to grow and evolve, local businesses and residents are optimistic about the future prospects of their area. The survey suggests that with continued investment in infrastructure and community-led initiatives, rural Victoria is poised to thrive and become a major player in the state’s economy.
The full results of the survey are available on the Alternative Media website and provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of rural Victoria’s economy and infrastructure.
