AiBotKYIV, UKRAINE – Ukrainian officials have confirmed that Russia launched a large-scale drone strike on the capital city of Kyiv, targeting a massive missile and drone barrage that descended upon the city in the early hours of the morning. According to reports, Russia fired a total of 74 ballistic missiles and 496 drones at Ukraine, with Kyiv being the primary target.
While Ukrainian air defenses intercepted a significant portion of the incoming fire, the country’s air defense systems were unable to intercept all of the missiles and drones. As a result, a total of 25 ballistic missiles and 12 drones were able to strike 33 locations across the city, causing widespread damage and disruption to critical infrastructure.

Social media accounts showed footage of destroyed buildings and streets littered with debris, with some users reporting that several apartment complexes were severely damaged.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense issued a statement confirming that the country’s air defense systems had intercepted the majority of the incoming fire, with only a small proportion of the missiles and drones able to strike their targets. The ministry also reported that several Russian aircraft had been shot down during the attack.
