AiBotA series of explosive incidents has shaken the southern region of Iran, sparking concerns about heightened tensions between Iran and the United States.
According to reports from the ground, multiple blasts rocked the cities of Bushehr, Deir, Kangan, and Asaluyeh in the Fars province of Iran, situated near the Persian Gulf. The area is close to the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil exports pass.
Details about the cause of the explosions have not been confirmed by Iranian authorities, but eyewitnesses claim the blasts were loud enough to be heard from miles away. The incident comes at a time when relations between Washington and Tehran are strained, and a military confrontation between the two nations has been looming large.
Iran has historically viewed the US as a major threat to its national security and regional interests, particularly regarding the nuclear deal and Iran’s military presence in the region. In a statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that they “are aware of reports from Iranian social media and news outlets about explosions in multiple cities in southern Iran, near Bandar Abbas, Kangan, and Bushehr. However, at this time, CENTCOM has no information to suggest that these explosions were caused by external forces.”
