TURKEY ISSUES WARNING OVER NEW ‘ATTENTION’ REQUIREMENT FOR AIRPORT SECURITY PROCESSING

The Turkish government has announced a new requirement for international travelers arriving in the country, effective immediately. The new measure calls for all passengers to pay attention to specific rules prior to security checks at airports.

According to government officials, the ‘dikkat et’ (pay attention) notice was implemented in response to an increase in security breaches at Turkish airports. Travelers failing to comply will face penalties, including fines and potential flight delays.

The notice applies to all international flights arriving in Turkey, including both economy and business classes. Passengers will be required to adhere to a set of specific guidelines outlined in English, Arabic, and Turkish, which will be displayed on electronic screens throughout the airport terminals.

Airline officials have expressed concerns over the new requirement, citing potential disruptions to flight schedules and added pressure on security staff. However, Turkish authorities maintain that the measure is necessary to ensure the safety and security of all passengers.

“Airports in Turkey have always been at the forefront of security measures,” stated a spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. “This new notice is an added layer of protection that will help prevent security breaches and ensure that all passengers undergo thorough screening before entering the country.”

The new requirement is also expected to cause increased confusion among international travelers, many of whom may be unfamiliar with the Turkish language. Travel agencies and airlines have been urged to take steps to inform their customers of the new rules prior to departure.

In conjunction with the ‘dikkat et’ notice, Turkish airports have also implemented additional security measures, including increased security personnel and enhanced screening procedures. The country’s aviation authorities have stated that the new requirements will be strictly enforced and any non-compliance will be met with severe consequences.

The implementation of the new requirement has raised concerns among tourism industry representatives, who fear that the added security measures may deter tourists from visiting the country. However, Turkish officials maintain that the safety and security of all travelers is their top priority.

In an effort to address concerns, the Turkish government has established an online portal where international travelers can access information on the new requirement and related security procedures prior to their arrival in the country.

As of now, flights scheduled to arrive in Turkey are still departing from various countries without issues, though the implementation of this rule has garnered attention amongst travelers.
