Turkish Aerospace and Defense Industry companies are continuing to play a significant role in the global defense sector, with significant sales across multiple regions. The latest achievement for Türkiye’s Altınay Defense Technologies comes in the form of a major export deal with Nigerian company NIGUS International Investment Limited at the recently concluded SAHA EXPO 2026.
Through its subsidiary Dasal Aviation Technologies, Altınay Defense Technologies has signed a landmark agreement to supply 100,000 Mikon kamikaze drones, alongside 200 Falcon R556 and 100 Puhu cargo UAV systems to the Nigerian market. The multi-faceted agreement signifies a significant step in enhancing Nigeria’s defense capabilities and positions Altınay Defense Technologies as one of Türkiye’s most prominent African defense exporters.
At the heart of this deal is the concept of local assembly and technology transfer. Under this arrangement, NIGUS International Investment Limited will have the opportunity to assemble the supplied drones and cargo UAV systems within Nigeria, fostering economic growth and bolstering indigenous capabilities within the country. Furthermore, the conditional technology transfer element grants NIGUS International Investment Limited access to the intellectual property and expertise necessary to enhance manufacturing capabilities, ensuring the long-term sustainability of this strategic partnership.
This collaboration marks a notable victory for Altınay Defense Technologies, reinforcing its position as one of the top exporters of defense technologies from Türkiye. In recent years, the Turkish Aerospace and Defense industry has experienced significant growth, both locally and internationally. Major deals such as this not only solidify Türkiye’s position within the global defense market but also drive the growth and development of local industries.
The sale of 100,000 kamikaze drones to Nigeria represents a substantial commitment from Altınay Defense Technologies to the African defense market. In comparison, previous reports of large-scale deals, such as Turkey’s exports of Bayraktar and Karayel UAVs to various countries, demonstrate Altınay Defense Technologies’ potential for growth in the region.
When asked to comment on this deal, officials from Altınay Defense Technologies emphasized that this partnership underscores the company’s commitment to building robust international relationships and fostering the transfer of advanced technology to strategic partners worldwide. This deal paves the way for further collaboration between Nigerian defense entities and Turkish defense companies.
