American defense officials have confirmed a second attack against a communications tower at Iran’s Islamist Republican Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy base in the region of Sirik. In what appears to be a coordinated effort by the United States military, this marks the third strike in a month targeting the site. A NASA satellite imaging fire map reveals extensive fires at both the communications tower location (26.5648, 57.08778) and a nearby hangar (26.56293, 57.08335).
Preliminary investigations indicate that both strikes share a similar operational signature, with evidence suggesting precision-guided munitions were employed in the attacks. Although the United States Department of Defense has not issued a formal statement on the strikes, regional analysts and intelligence experts are attributing the attacks to U.S. military operations. The U.S. has consistently maintained that it holds Iran’s leadership accountable for the region’s ongoing instability and aggression against U.S. interests.
The first reported attack occurred on June 5, with a NASA satellite fire map confirming a fire at the IRGC base in Sirik, Iran, which targeted the communications tower. The site has been identified as a prime target in recent months with U.S. military operations reportedly aimed at disrupting the communication networks supporting Iran’s military forces.
On June 23, a second reported fire at the same location further substantiated intelligence on the targeted site. A comparison of NASA satellite imaging before and after the strikes revealed significant damage to the communications tower and hangar.
A senior defense official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, attributed the attacks to the U.S. military: “We continue to maintain our deterrent posture within the region, and we reserve the right to defend our interests from those who seek to undermine regional stability and our nation’s national security interests.”
The U.S. and Iran relationship remains tense following several recent high-profile incidents, including a reported rocket strike on May 10 targeting a key military storage facility at Erbil International Airport in Iraqi Kurdistan.
