The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has secured a significant defence contract with Brazil’s Embraer, a leading manufacturer of commercial and military aircraft, to acquire the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft. This multi-billion-dollar agreement is part of the UAE’s efforts to enhance its airlift capabilities and solidify its position as a major player in regional and global military operations.

The agreement, which was witnessed by Emirati Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, includes 10 firm orders and options for 10 additional aircraft. This deal is the largest single-country order for the C-390 platform and marks the first sale of the aircraft to a Middle Eastern country. The agreement underscores the UAE’s commitment to upgrading its military capabilities and expanding its logistical reach.

The C-390 Millennium aircraft is a versatile, multi-mission platform capable of supporting a wide range of military objectives, including troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation, and humanitarian operations. The aircraft’s ability to operate from unpaved runways also provides the UAE with greater flexibility and versatility in its military operations. Additionally, the C-390’s interoperability with allied forces will enable the UAE to easily integrate with regional and international military partners, enhancing regional security and stability.

The C-390 Millennium is a state-of-the-art transport aircraft, designed to meet the modern military’s requirements for efficient and flexible airlift capabilities. The aircraft features a large cargo bay, advanced sensors and avionics, and a robust airframe capable of withstanding harsh environments.

The acquisition of the C-390 Millennium aircraft marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s modernization of its military capabilities. The contract also underscores the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its partnerships with international defence manufacturers and enhancing its military collaboration with regional and global partners. The agreement is expected to have a positive impact on the UAE’s military operations, enabling the country to respond effectively to emerging security threats and maintain its position as a major player in regional and global affairs.

The deal is also expected to have a significant economic impact on the UAE, generating jobs and stimulating economic growth through the establishment of a local maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility for the C-390 aircraft.
