“US Embassies in Venezuela Activate Emergency Response to Support Earthquake Relief Efforts”

Caracas, Venezuela – In the aftermath of the devastating 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Venezuela’s Sucre state, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Venezuela, John Barret, has announced a comprehensive and expedited humanitarian response effort in coordination with the local authorities.

As part of the response plan, U.S. government agencies and resources have been mobilized to ensure the delivery of critical supplies, including food, water, shelter materials, medical aid, and search and rescue equipment to affected regions.

Barret, who has been at the forefront of coordinating international aid, described the current situation as “devastating,” emphasizing the need for a swift and decisive action to save lives. The US Charge has underscored the importance of prioritizing search and rescue operations, providing critical medical care to those in need, and addressing the basic needs of affected communities.

“We understand that this is a moment of great need, and our focus is 100% on saving lives,” said Barret during a recent press conference at the US Embassy in Caracas. “The U.S government is committed to supporting the people and government of Venezuela, as well as other international partners in their relief efforts.”

Key components of the US humanitarian response initiative include:

1. Emergency Food and Supply Distribution: Essential items such as canned goods, bottled water, and hygiene kits will be delivered to communities hardest hit by the disaster.

2. Medical Assistance: The US has deployed medical professionals and equipment, including ambulances and medical shelters, to ensure the delivery of critical healthcare services.

3. Shelter Support: The U.S. government is providing critical materials, including roofing supplies, blankets, and sleeping bags, to assist affected families in securing temporary shelter.

4. Search and Rescue Operations: Highly trained search and rescue teams will be deployed to locate and provide assistance to those trapped beneath rubble.

In addition to these immediate relief efforts, the U.S. has pledged to support long-term reconstruction and rebuilding initiatives in affected areas. The U.S. government will continue to work closely with the National Emergency Operations Center and other key stakeholders to coordinate international relief efforts.

As the situation continues to unfold, U.S. government officials, including Barret, have expressed gratitude for the outpouring of international support, emphasizing the crucial role that international cooperation plays in responding to this massive disaster.
