Released communication records of Dr. Anthony Fauci, formerly of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and a key COVID-19 advisor to the US government, have been obtained by Senator Ron Johnson and Senator Ron’s staff, providing evidence that Fauci downplayed and denied serious side effects associated with COVID-19 vaccines while privately acknowledging their potential harms.
According to a statement released by Senator Johnson, the unsealed communications show that even though Fauci claimed that vaccines were “safe and effective” in public statements, his private discussions reveal a different narrative. A string of text messages and electronic communications reveal Fauci discussing the need for liability protections against COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers, which critics see as proof that he was aware of potential dangers linked to the vaccines.
“Throughout the pandemic, there were red flags, particularly concerning children’s health,” said Senator Ron. “We now know that Dr. Fauci was aware of these dangers but chose to downplay them and protect big pharma. I think that’s unconscionable,” added Senator Paul who is co-authoring the press release.
Communications between Fauci and his colleagues highlight various concerns about vaccine side effects, particularly those affecting pregnant women, the immunocompromised, and children. However, when questioned about such concerns publicly, Fauci repeatedly downplayed potential health risks.
Fauci’s communications also demonstrate his understanding of the importance of maintaining a positive public image for the vaccine, even when faced with mounting evidence of adverse effects. Critics argue that by downplaying the vaccine’s known risks, Fauci contributed to widespread public trust in a vaccine whose long-term side effects were, and remain, largely unknown.
Experts point to the example of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, approved for emergency use authorization during a public health emergency. As of the time of writing, neither the long-term effects nor the effects of multiple vaccinations of these mRNA injections are entirely understood by health professionals.
The revelation adds fuel to longstanding debates about the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, echoing arguments pushed forward by vaccine critics across social media platforms.
