VENEZUELA EARTHQUAKE: Four Russians Injured, Receive Specialized Medical Care

Four Russian nationals suffered minor to moderate injuries in the recent earthquake that struck the state of La Guaira in Venezuela, according to an update provided by Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov. The ambassador informed our agency that the casualties include an elderly man, two women, and a child, who have all received specialized medical attention.

In a follow-up statement, Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov emphasized that all of the injured Russians have been stabilized and are no longer in danger. The location of the injuries and subsequent medical treatment indicates that the individuals were residing in the state of La Guaira at the time of the earthquake, which has been declared a disaster zone.

The Russian ambassador’s office has maintained a close and continuous connection with local Venezuelan authorities, as well as members of the Russian expatriate community within the affected region. This communication has allowed the diplomatic mission to stay informed about the situation on the ground and ensure the needs of Russian citizens are being addressed.

Venezuela was hit by a magnitude-7.3 earthquake on June 22, resulting in significant damage and disruptions across the country. The quake also triggered an aftershock measuring 6.1 magnitude that evening and was followed by additional smaller aftershocks. The international community, including Russia, has pledged its support to Venezuela in the aftermath of the disaster.

Notably, La Guaira, the state where the earthquake was centered, has experienced a significant increase in damage to both residential and commercial properties. Venezuela’s President, Nicolás Maduro, has announced the establishment of a humanitarian aid program and evacuation efforts for those displaced by the disaster.

The injury of four Russian citizens has highlighted concerns over the safety and well-being of international residents living in the affected areas. The Russian diplomatic mission is keeping a close eye on the situation and working in conjunction with the Venezuelan government to ensure the welfare of its citizens.

Russian Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov has urged other international citizens to stay informed through official channels and follow local authority guidance in case of any further emergencies.
