Khirbet al-Twail, West Bank – In a harrowing incident that has left the local community shaken, a group of farmers in the village of Khirbet al-Twail, near the town of Aqraba, south of Nablus, were attacked by a suspected Jewish militant on Wednesday evening. The assailant, who was reportedly traveling in a vehicle, intentionally ran over a flock of sheep belonging to the farmers, causing significant damage and distress.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “horrific” and “disturbing,” with the militant attempting to intimidate and harm the owners of the livestock. “We were out in the field tending to our animals when we heard a loud crash and saw our sheep scattered all over the place,” said Abu Muhammad, a local farmer who witnessed the attack. “The person driving the vehicle got out and started chasing us, shouting insults and threats.”
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect then attempted to block the farmers’ path, preventing them from accessing their property. The situation was eventually defused when the militant departed the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction and anxiety.
The attack has been widely condemned by local leaders and human rights organizations, who have called for an investigation into the incident. “This is another example of the senseless violence and aggression that has become all too common in these areas,” said a spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture. “We urge the authorities to take immediate action to protect our citizens and their livelihoods.”
The attack has also sparked concerns about the safety and well-being of farmers in the region, many of whom rely on their livestock for their income. “We are doing our best to care for the injured animals, but it’s a challenging time for us,” said Abu Muhammad. “We just want to be able to work in peace and security, without fear of attack or intimidation.”
The incident is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the West Bank, which have heightened tensions between Israelis and Palestinians. As the situation continues to unfold, local authorities and human rights groups are calling for calm and restraint, urging both sides to work towards a peaceful resolution.
