A senior official from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Intelligence Organization has delivered a stark warning to the United States, implying that President Donald Trump will have to choose between a perilous military operation or an unfavorable nuclear deal with Iran.
In an exclusive statement to The War Reporter, the IRGC official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that Washington will be forced to decide between two undesirable options in the midst of stalled nuclear negotiations.
“We are witnessing a game where Mr. Trump has no room to maneuver,” the IRGC official said, adding: “The military option is impossible. There is no scenario in which the US could launch a successful military operation against us without suffering devastating consequences. As for a bad deal, the current proposal is still far from acceptable.”
The comments underscore the increasingly tense relationship between the US and Iran, which has seen a series of escalating exchanges and military confrontations in recent months. The situation has become ever more volatile ahead of the May 2 expiration of a temporary agreement that limited Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for eased sanctions.
Meanwhile, the prospects of the negotiations appear to be dwindling, as the two sides remain deadlocked over several key issues, including the scope of Iran’s nuclear program and the removal of international sanctions. The US had initially sought a comprehensive agreement that would restrict all aspects of Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for full sanctions relief.
In the face of a toughening US stance and mounting internal opposition to a renewed agreement, the Iranian official suggested that President Trump will be forced to consider an unappealing third option: either a more limited, but ultimately unsatisfactory deal or a more comprehensive package of concessions from Tehran, accompanied by the lifting of international sanctions.
“This would require significant concessions on our part, not only regarding the nuclear program but also in other areas, such as our ballistic missile capabilities and our regional influence,” the IRGC official warned.
Tensions between the US and Iran have seen a significant escalation in recent months, highlighted by a series of aerial confrontations in the Arabian Gulf region and the imposition of fresh US sanctions targeting the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, including its notorious Quds Force.
As the standoff between the US and Iran continues to escalate, the international community watches anxiously, with many observers concerned about the potential for wider instability in the region.
